### Extremely Good: The -ísimo Suffix

When you want to give a glowing review or emphasize a point, you could use **muy** (very). But to sound truly enthusiastic—to say something is *extremely* or *super* something—you can add the suffix **-ísimo** to the end of the adjective.

To form it, drop the final vowel of the adjective (a, o, or e) and add **-ísimo**. Remember that this new ending still needs to match the noun it describes in both gender and number (**-ísimo**, **-ísima**, **-ísimos**, **-ísimas**).

### Spelling Changes

Sometimes, dropping the final vowel and adding **-ísimo** forces a spelling change to keep the original pronunciation of the word. For example, if an adjective ends in **-co** or **-ca** (like **rico** or **simpático**), the **c** changes to **qu** to maintain the hard "k" sound.
