Questions & Answers about На таких ярмарках продают самые свежие продукты.
Why is продают in the "they" form if there is no "they" (они) in the sentence?
This is an indefinite-personal sentence. In Russian, using the third-person plural verb form without the pronoun они is the standard way to express "people do this" or "this is done" in general. Here, it translates naturally as "they sell" or "are sold."
Why do we use на instead of в for "at the fairs"?
The noun ярмарка (fair or market) traditionally requires the preposition на for location or destination. Because we are talking about location ("at such fairs"), the phrase на таких ярмарках is in the prepositional case plural.
How do you form "the freshest" in Russian?
To say "the most" or add "-est" to an adjective, you use the word самый before the adjective. Both words must match the noun they describe in gender, number, and case. Here, самые свежие is in the accusative plural to match продукты.
Why doesn't the ending of продукты change here?
It actually is in the accusative case, because it is the direct object being sold. However, for inanimate nouns like продукты (groceries/products), the plural accusative form looks exactly identical to the nominative plural (the basic dictionary form).
