Questions & Answers about Они обсуждают процесс с новыми партнёрами.
Why is there no preposition like о (about) after обсуждают?
In English, we sometimes say "talk about the process", but the verb обсуждать (to discuss) works just like the English word "discuss". It directly takes an object in the accusative case (процесс) without needing any extra prepositions.
Why does процесс look like it's in the nominative case if it's the object of the verb?
It is actually in the accusative case, which is used for direct objects. Because процесс is a masculine inanimate noun (a thing, not a living person or animal), its accusative form is completely identical to its dictionary (nominative) form.
Is the preposition с taking the genitive case here?
No, it's taking the instrumental case. While с does take the genitive case when it means "from" or "since", it takes the instrumental case when it means "with" (doing something together). That is why we use the instrumental endings for "new partners".
How do we form the plural endings for новыми партнёрами?
Because they follow с (meaning "with"), they are in the instrumental case. Plural nouns in the instrumental case usually end in -ами (or -ями), giving us партнёрами. Plural adjectives take the matching ending -ыми (or -ими), resulting in новыми.
