Questions & Answers about Куда спешит учитель? В библиотеку.
Why use Куда instead of Где for 'Where'?
Куда specifically means 'where to' and is used when asking about a destination. Because the teacher is moving towards a place, we must use куда. If we wanted to know where the teacher is right now, we would use где.
Why does библиотека change to библиотеку?
Because the library is the destination of the action. When you use the preposition в to mean 'to' or 'into', the noun must be in the Accusative case. For feminine nouns ending in -а like библиотека, the ending changes to -у.
Why do we use the preposition в here instead of на?
We use в (into/to) for most physical buildings and enclosed spaces, like a library. The preposition на is typically used for events, open areas, or certain exceptions (like going to work).
Why is the verb спешит placed before the subject учитель?
Russian word order is very flexible. In questions that start with a question word like куда, it is common and natural to put the verb right after it. However, saying Куда учитель спешит? is also perfectly correct.
