Stating Reasons (так как)

To explain the reason (причина) for something in a slightly more formal or logical tone than потому что (because), use the conjunction так как (since, as). Always place a comma right before it.

This reason is important, since we want to understand the problem.
Эта причина важная, так как мы хотим понять проблему.
This is an obvious result, since he did not come.
Это очевидный итог, так как он не пришёл.

Forming an Argument

When having a discussion (дискуссия), you will often need to present an argument (аргумент) and assess whether it is convincing (убедительный) or obvious (очевидный).

Views and Conclusions

To wrap up your reasoning, you will typically state a conclusion (вывод) based on an outcome (итог).

We made a conclusion, since the result is good.
Мы сделали вывод, так как итог хороший.

Of course, not every issue is clear-cut. When debating, you can acknowledge that a view (взгляд) is debatable or controversial (спорный). Phrases like на мой взгляд (in my view) or по-моему (in my opinion) help frame your perspective.

In my view, this is a controversial argument, since we do not know the reason.
На мой взгляд, это спорный аргумент, так как мы не знаем причину.
