Questions & Answers about Plouă, deci rămân acasă.
How exactly does deci work here?
deci means "so", "therefore", or "consequently". It is a conjunction that links a reason or cause (Plouă) to its logical result (rămân acasă). Note that in Romanian, deci is almost always preceded by a comma.
Why doesn't Plouă have a subject pronoun like "it" in front of it?
Romanian doesn't use "dummy" subjects like the English word "it" for weather conditions. Plouă simply means "It is raining" all by itself. It is the third-person singular form of the verb a ploua (to rain).
Where is the word for "I" in rămân acasă?
The pronoun eu (I) is omitted because the verb form already tells us who is doing the action. Rămân is the "I" form of the verb a rămâne (to stay or remain). In Romanian, it is much more natural to drop the subject pronoun unless you need to emphasize who is doing the action.
Why do we use acasă here instead of casă?
