Learn Romanian: Vrei să spui adevărul? - Do you want to tell the truth?

In English we say "want TO tell", using the dictionary form (the infinitive). But Romanian rarely uses the infinitive here. Instead, it links two verbs with the word să, and conjugates BOTH verbs for the person doing the action. So the sentence literally translates to "You want that you tell" (Vrei să spui).

Does the verb spui change its spelling because it comes after să?

For the "you" form (second person singular), no! Spui is the normal present tense for "you tell", and it stays exactly the same after să. The tricky spelling changes after să mostly happen when you are talking about "he", "she", or "they".

Where is the word for "the" in adevărul?
