Numbers from 11 to 19 in Romanian are built using the formula "number + spre (towards) + zece (ten)". To make it easier to pronounce, the word for four (patru) changes to pai-. This gives us paisprezece instead of the clunky "patrusprezece".

Why isn't there a connecting word between paisprezece and euro?

For quantities up to 19, you place the number directly in front of the noun, just like in English. You only need to add the connecting word de when counting 20 or more of something (for example, douăzeci de euro).

The English translation says "euros". Why doesn't the Romanian word euro change to plural?

In Romanian, the currency euro is invariable. This means its form is exactly the same whether you have one or many. You say un euro (one euro) and paisprezece euro (fourteen euros).

Why do we use acest here for "this" instead of această?

Words for "this" have to match the gender of the noun they describe. The word telefon is a neuter noun. We use acest for masculine and neuter nouns, and reserve această for feminine nouns.
