Questions & Answers about Tu lucrezi des acasă?
I learned that "-a" verbs usually end in "-i" for "tu". Why is there an "-ez-" in lucrezi?
The verb a lucra (to work) belongs to a very large group of regular "-a" verbs that add an extra -ez- sound before the ending. So, instead of "lucri", it becomes lucrez (I work) and lucrezi (you work). You will need to memorize which "-a" verbs use -ez- and which don't as you learn new vocabulary!
Why is there no word for "Do" at the beginning of the sentence?
English uses "do" or "does" to form questions, but Romanian doesn't use these helper verbs. To ask a question in Romanian, you just use the exact same word order as a regular statement (Tu lucrezi = You work) and add a question mark at the end, raising your pitch at the end of the sentence when speaking.
I thought the word for "house" or "home" was casă. Why is it acasă here?
