The relative pronoun 'care' (care)

The Relative Pronoun "care"

To connect clauses and add detail to a noun, Romanian uses the relative pronoun care ("who", "which", or "that").

Unlike English, which switches between "who" for people and "which" or "that" for objects, Romanian uses care for everything.

When care acts as the subject of a relative clause, it is invariable. It never changes form, regardless of the noun's gender or number.

I know that the employee who applies wants the position.
Știu că angajatul care aplică vrea postul.
I am evaluating the resume that is on my desk.
Evaluez CV-ul care este pe biroul meu.
The girl who is waiting outside has the ideal profile.
Fata care așteaptă afară are profilul ideal.
Our department has a team that is very dynamic.
Departamentul nostru are o echipă care este foarte dinamică.

Notice how care remains exactly the same even when describing a plural noun:

We don't evaluate candidates who do not have experience.
Nu evaluăm candidații care nu au experiență.
