The Seasons
The Romanian word for "the season" is anotimpul.
| What season is it now? | Ce anotimp este acum? |
| This season is very beautiful. | Acest anotimp este foarte frumos. |
The words for the seasons are feminine. Just like other feminine words, they often take the attached definite article -a ("the"), giving us primăvara (the spring), vara (the summer), toamna (the autumn), and iarna (the winter).
You can use începe în (begins in) to describe when a season starts. You might also see luna (the month) added right before a month's name for clarity.
| The spring begins in the month of March. | Primăvara începe în luna martie. |
| We love the spring. | Noi iubim primăvara. |
| The summer begins in June and ends in August. | Vara începe în iunie și se termină în august. |
| Do you love the summer? | Tu iubești vara? |
| The autumn is an interesting season. | Toamna este un anotimp interesant. |
| The boy draws the autumn. | Băiatul desenează toamna. |
| The winter begins in the month of December. | Iarna începe în luna decembrie. |
| The girl hates the winter. | Fata urăște iarna. |
