Future if-clauses (dacă)

Real Conditions in the Future

When talking about a realistic condition in the future, English uses the present tense in the "if" clause and the future tense in the main clause (If the strategy works, we will continue).

In Romanian, you must use the future tense in both halves of the sentence.

If the strategy works, we will continue the business.
Dacă strategia va funcționa, vom continua afacerea.
If you launch the product tomorrow, you will see the reaction.
Dacă veți lansa produsul mâine, veți vedea reacția.
If the campaign works, sales will increase.
Dacă campania va funcționa, vânzările vor crește.

To make the condition negative, place nu before the future helping verb in the dacă clause.

If the partner does not accept the offer, we will lose the investment.
Dacă partenerul nu va accepta oferta, vom pierde investiția.

You can also combine these dacă clauses with concepts you already know, like making comparisons:

If the competition is less strong than us, the profit will increase.
Dacă concurența va fi mai puțin puternică decât noi, profitul va crește.
