Why do we use Boa here instead of Bom?
Adjectives in Portuguese must match the gender of the noun they describe. The word for luck, sorte, is a feminine noun. Therefore, we use the feminine adjective Boa instead of the masculine Bom.
If I am saying this to a female friend, does Boa change?
Why isn't there a possessive word like meu (my) before amigo?
When you are speaking directly to someone to wish them well, you usually leave out the word meu (my). Just saying amigo is a natural and friendly way to address someone directly in Portuguese, much like saying 'Good luck, friend' or 'Good luck, buddy' in English.
