You know ontem, hoje, amanhã — and anteontem. The missing quadrant is depois de amanhã, the day after tomorrow. Em breve is soon — vaguer than logo, and the word airports and adverts use.

Ordering Events

A seguir is next / right after — on its own (A seguir, vamos ao museu) or with a (a seguir ao jantar). The adjective pair seguinte / anterior orders things from a viewpoint in the past or future: no dia seguinte (the NEXT day), a semana anterior (the week BEFORE).

Taking Time, Losing Time

Demorar is what things do when they take time: Quanto tempo demora? Atrasar-se is what YOU do when you are late: Desculpa, atrasei-me. And um bocado is the EP a bit — of time (espera um bocado) or of anything (um bocado de pão).
