### The Tens from 30 to 90

Counting by tens in Portuguese follows a predictable pattern. Aside from thirty, all of these numbers end in **-enta**.

### Combining Tens and Units

To form numbers between the tens, such as 42 or 65, simply take the ten, add the word **e** (and), and then add the unit. For example, "forty-two" is **quarenta e dois** (literally "forty and two").

The number 100 is **cem**.
