Questions & Answers about Czy mogą państwo wypełnić ten formularz?
Why do we use the 'they' form mogą when the translation says 'Can you...'?
The word państwo is used to say a formal 'you' to a group of people. In Polish grammar, państwo always pairs with the third-person plural ('they') form of the verb, which is mogą here.
Is it normal for państwo to come after the verb mogą?
Yes! In Polish yes/no questions starting with Czy, it is very common and natural to put the verb before the subject. Saying Czy państwo mogą... is also perfectly correct, but Czy mogą państwo... flows a bit better.
Could I use wypełniać instead of wypełnić?
You could, but wypełnić is much more natural here. It is the perfective form, focusing on the completed result (getting the form filled out). The imperfective wypełniać would emphasize the ongoing process of writing.
Why is it ten formularz and not tego formularza if it is the object of the verb?
The verb wypełnić requires the accusative case for its direct object. The word formularz is a masculine inanimate noun. For masculine inanimate nouns, the accusative case looks exactly the same as the basic nominative case, so both ten and formularz stay in their base forms.
