Learn Polish: Pomożesz mi? Z przyjemnością! - Will you help me? With pleasure!

Pomożesz is the perfective future tense of the verb "to help" (pomóc). In Polish, we use the perfective aspect when asking someone to complete a single, specific action. Będziesz pomagać (imperfective) would mean "Will you be helping me?" (an ongoing process or repeated action), which sounds unnatural for a simple request like this.

Why is it "mi" and not "mnie"?

Mi is the short dative form of ja (I/me). The verb pomóc always takes the dative case because you are giving help to someone. We use the short form mi because it doesn't carry special emphasis. If you wanted to strongly stress "Will you help me? (and not someone else)", you would use the long form, usually placing it at the start: Mnie pomożesz?

Why does "przyjemnością" end in "-ścią"?

The preposition z meaning "with" requires the following noun to be in the instrumental case. The dictionary form of the word is przyjemność (a feminine noun ending in a consonant). To make it instrumental, feminine nouns ending in a consonant add -ią, resulting in przyjemnością.

Is "przyjemność" related to the adjective "przyjemny" (pleasant)?
