Why didn't the word obiad change its ending if it is the direct object?
Because obiad (dinner) is an inanimate masculine noun! You have learned that direct objects take the Accusative case. While feminine nouns get new endings in the Accusative, inanimate masculine nouns (things, not people or animals) look exactly the same as they do in their basic dictionary form. So, obiad stays obiad.
