Talking about when (rok temu, w zeszłym roku)

Polish puts temu after the time span: rok temu a year ago, dwa lata temu — two years ago, godzinę temu — an hour ago.

Last and next

zeszły means last (the one before this): w zeszłym roku last year, w zeszłym tygodniu — last week.

w przyszłym roku is next year — przyszły (future, next) you already know from the future-tense lessons.

Small time words

dziś = dzisiaj — today, just shorter. Both are fully standard.

wcześniej — earlier, beforehand. nadal — still (something continues). znowu — again. po południu — in the afternoon, completing rano and wieczorem. wieczór is the noun evening itself: Dobry wieczór! uses it, wieczorem is its adverb.
