Pointing forward to a result

Ponieważ and dlatego give a reason inside one sentence. These phrases link a result to a reason given in the PREVIOUS sentence.

There was a strike. For that reason the train was delayed.
Był strajk. Z tego powodu pociąg był opóźniony.

in connection with that, therefore (formal)

w związku z tymin connection with that, therefore — the formal, written one, typical of notices and letters.

There is a breakdown. Therefore the shop is closed.
Jest awaria. W związku z tym sklep jest nieczynny.

dzięki temuthanks to that — a result you are glad about. It is the Dative temu after dzięki, which you met in the last lesson.

I have a car. Thanks to that I don't have to take the bus.
Mam samochód. Dzięki temu nie muszę jeździć autobusem.

Purpose

in order to, so that

po to, żebyin order to — makes the purpose explicit; plain żeby would do, but po to stresses it.

I study in order to pass the exam.
Uczę się po to, żeby zdać egzamin.

Since — a reason both of you already know

seeing that, since (a reason taken as given)

skorosince, as — opens a reason that is taken as given, and the main clause draws the conclusion. Unlike ponieważ, it cannot answer dlaczego?
