Indeclinable professional titles for women
In Polish, many formal, high-ranking, or academic professional titles historically exist only in the masculine form. To refer to a woman holding one of these positions, combine the word pani (Ms./Mrs.) with the masculine title, like profesor or dziekan (dean).
The key rule: only the word pani declines. The professional title itself never changes.
Conveniently, pani only changes to panią in the Accusative (direct object) and Instrumental (e.g., with z) cases.

In all other cases—including Nominative (subject), Genitive (possession, negation, or movement), and Dative (indirect object)—it remains pani.
| The dean (f) organized this seminar. | Pani dziekan zorganizowała to seminarium. |
| I did not see the dean (f) today. | Dzisiaj nie widziałem pani dziekan. |
| You must show this diploma to the rector (f). | Musisz pokazać ten dyplom pani rektor. |
| I am going to the office of the rector (f). | Idę do gabinetu pani rektor. |
This rule is not limited to academia. It applies to any formal or high-ranking title, such as a minister (minister) or director (dyrektor).
| I have never talked with the minister (f). | Nigdy nie rozmawiałem z panią minister. |
| I invite the director (f) to this seminar. | Zapraszam panią dyrektor na to seminarium. |
