Astrology and the Zodiac
Before we look at our new grammar point, let's familiarize ourselves with some vocabulary for discussing astrology and zodiac signs. Notice that zodiac signs like Aries (Baran), Scorpio (Skorpion), and Capricorn (Koziorożec) are capitalized in Polish.

The Formal Conjunction: jako że
To express a reason or cause formally—translating to "seeing as" or "since"—Polish uses the conjunction jako że.
Unlike some conditional conjunctions that require a specific tense or mood, jako że simply introduces a standard, factual clause. It can be used freely with the past, present, or future tense. It is very common to place the jako że clause at the very beginning of the sentence to establish the context for the main action.
| Seeing as the weather was terrible, the Capricorn stayed at home. | Jako że pogoda była okropna, Koziorożec został w domu. |
| Seeing as the Scorpio was eavesdropping, he found out about her plans. | Jako że Skorpion podsłuchiwał, dowiedział się o jej planach. |
| Seeing as I tend to be superstitious at night, I often check this horoscope. | Jako że nocą bywam przesądny, często sprawdzam ten horoskop. |
You can also use it to explain how someone's background or zodiac sign might dictate a certain outcome:
| Seeing as you are an Aries, you should avoid conflicts with a Scorpio. | Jako że jesteś Baranem, powinieneś unikać konfliktów ze Skorpionem. |
Expressing Influence
When discussing horoscopes and predictions (przepowiednie), you will often talk about how one thing affects another. To express this, use the verb wpływać (to influence). It is paired with the preposition na followed by a noun or pronoun in the accusative case.
| The moon can influence our well-being very strongly. | Księżyc może bardzo mocno wpływać na nasze samopoczucie. |
| Will this dark prediction influence you? | Czy ta mroczna przepowiednia będzie na ciebie wpływać? |
