Usages of ato
戦争 の 後 に たくさん の ユダヤ人 が カナダ に 来 始めました。sensou no ato ni takusan no yudayazin ga kanada ni ki hazimemasita.
After the war, many Jewish people began coming to Canada.
Note: the subject marker が is more appropriate than は in this context. The subject of the sentence is たくさんのユダヤ人 (many Jewish people), and in this case, が is typically used because it is introducing new, non-contrastive information.
あと で する つもり です。ato de suru tumori desu.
I intend to do it later.
彼 は 仕事 の 後 に 料理するの が 好き です。kare ha sigoto no ato ni ryourisuruno ga suki desu.
He likes cooking after work.
仕事 を 終えた 後、 それから 暇 を 楽しんだ。sigoto wo oeta ato, sorekara hima wo tanosinda.
After finishing work, I then enjoyed my free time.
ランニングした 後 に、 ジュース を 飲みました。ranningusita ato ni, zyuusu wo nomimasita.
After running, I drank juice.
食べた 後 に、 本 を 買いました。tabeta ato ni, hon wo kaimasita.
After eating, I bought a book.
旅行 後、 長い シャワー を 浴びました。ryokou ato, nagai syawaa wo abimasita.
After the trip, (she) took a long shower.
昼ご飯 後、 曲 を 聞きます。hirugohan ato, kyoku wo kikimasu.
I listen to music after lunch.
曇り の 後 で 晴れる よ。kumori no ato de hareru yo.
It'll clear up after it's cloudy (I inform you).
曇った 後 で よく 雨 が 降る。kumotta ato de yoku ame ga huru.
It often rains after it becomes cloudy.
家 に 着いた 後 で、 電話して ください。ie ni tuita ato de, denwasite kudasai.
Please call (me) after you arrive home.
