Lesson 33: Negating verbs

Negating verbs in the long form is just as easy as changing them into the past tense. The only thing we need to do is to change ます into ません.

English Japanese
I won't eat shellfish. かいべません。
kai wo tabemasen.
I will not leave. ません。
demasen.
I won't buy a car. くるまいません。
kuruma wo kaimasen.
Is there no water? みずがありませんか?
mizu ga arimasen ka?
