Lesson 34: Invitations and the particle と

The negative form is often used together with the question particle to invite someone to do something.

English Japanese
Won't you drink something? なにみませんか?
nanika nomimasen ka?

The particle can be used to mean with. In later lessons you will learn more uses for the particle .

English Japanese
Won't you drink something with me? わたしなにみませんか?
watasi to nanika nomimasen ka?
Won't you eat something with me tomorrow? したわたしなにべませんか?
asita watasi to nanika tabemasen ka?

Note that after なに, we don't use the object particle .
