To say that something hasn't happened "yet", Italian uses **non** before the verb and **ancora** after it. When using a compound tense like the *passato prossimo*, **ancora** is typically placed right between the helper verb and the past participle.

To express that a situation is "no longer" happening or "not anymore", wrap the conjugated verb with **non** and **più**.

### Changing plans and urban development

You will frequently use these negative structures when talking about urban development (**lo sviluppo**) and ongoing construction projects. 

If your sentence uses a modal verb (like *volere*, *dovere*, or *potere*) followed by an infinitive, **più** and **ancora** usually go immediately after the conjugated modal verb.
