Questions & Answers about Slæm hegðun truflar aðra.

The lesson is about the nominative "aðrir" (others). Why does this sentence use "aðra"?

Because aðra is the direct object of the verb truflar (bothers). The verb trufla forces its object into the accusative case. Since we are talking about other people in general, we use the masculine plural. The nominative aðrir changes to the accusative aðra.

Why is the adjective "slæm" (bad) used without any endings?

The noun it describes, hegðun (behavior), is a feminine word in the nominative case. The basic masculine word is slæmur, but its strong feminine singular form drops the ending to become slæm. We use the strong form because there is no article like "the" attached to or in front of the noun.

Does "aðra" specifically mean "other people" here?

It literally translates to "others", but when standing alone in the masculine plural, it is the standard Icelandic way to refer to "other people" in general. You do not need to add the actual word for "people".

How does the verb "trufla" conjugate here?

The subject is hegðun (behavior), which acts as a third-person "it". Trufla is a regular verb in the -a group, so it simply takes the standard -ar ending in the present tense to become truflar.
