Explanatory conjunction (enda)

When following celebrity news and media gossip, you will often want to explain why a star acted a certain way. To add a logical, explanatory follow-up statement, use the conjunction enda (seeing that / and indeed).

Notice an important word order rule: when a clause begins with enda, the verb immediately follows it, so the subject and verb swap places.

I find the star fantastic, seeing that she is very intelligent.
Mér finnst stjarnan frábær, enda er hún mjög gáfuð.
The scandal is big, seeing that the actress lied.
Hneykslið er stórt, enda laug leikkonan.
The reporter wrote his article, and indeed the scandal was interesting.
Fréttamaðurinn skrifaði greinina sína, enda var hneykslið áhugavert.
The director is elegant, and indeed he found the love.
Leikstjórinn er glæsilegur, enda fann hann ástina.
