Four verbs you use every day

kveikja and slökkva are a pair, and both take á + dative for devices: kveikja á ljósinu, slökkva á tölvunni. For fire the bare accusative: slökkva eldinn.
fylla carries the paperwork function from the curriculum — fylla út eyðublað, to fill in a form — the thing every foreigner in Iceland does weekly.
Getting hold of things
Útvega (+ dat + acc) is to procure — to get someone something that is not simply for sale: útvega mér miða, get me a ticket.
