Learn Hardcore Ukrainian: Мій рецепт записаний.

Мій translates to My in English. It is a possessive adjective that agrees with рецепт in gender, number, and case. Since рецепт is a masculine singular noun, Мій is also in the masculine singular form.

What is the role of записаний in the sentence?

Записаний is a past passive participle derived from the verb записати, which means to record or write down. In this sentence, it functions as an adjective describing the state of the recipe—that it has been written down or recorded. It agrees in gender, number, and case with рецепт (masculine singular).

Why is there no explicit word for "is" in this sentence?

In Ukrainian, especially in the present tense, the linking verb (equivalent to is in English) is usually omitted. Thus, instead of literally saying My recipe is written, the language simply combines the subject and the predicate adjective: Мій рецепт записаний.

How does the word order in Мій рецепт записаний compare to its English counterpart?

The word order is quite similar to English in that the possessive adjective Мій comes before the noun рецепт. However, the state descriptor (the past participle записаний) is placed after the noun. Ukrainian word order is relatively flexible, but this arrangement is typical when using adjectives or participles as predicates.
