Questions & Answers about Tarama modülü sesleri kaydediyor.
What does Tarama modülü literally mean, and how is this compound formed?
Tarama is a noun meaning “scanning” (from the verb taramak, “to scan”). Modül means “module.” In Turkish noun–noun compounds you usually drop the genitive -ın/-nın on the first noun and add the 3rd person singular possessive suffix -ü/-u/-ı/-i on the second. Thus Tarama modülü = “the module of scanning,” i.e. scanning module.
Why does modülü end in -ü even though it’s the subject here?
That -ü is not an accusative or tense marker but the 3rd person singular possessive suffix required by the compound structure. It shows that modül is “possessed” by tarama” in the noun–noun compound.
What does the suffix -leri in sesleri represent?
It actually combines two functions:
- -ler = plural marker (“sounds”)
- -i = accusative (definite object)
Together, ses → sesler (sounds) → sesleri (“the sounds,” marked as a specific/direct object).
When do you use the accusative suffix -i on Turkish objects?
You add -i/-ı/-u/-ü on direct objects when they are definite or specific (equivalent to English “the X” or “these X”). If the object is indefinite/general (“a sound,” “sound” in general), you omit the accusative.
