Questions & Answers about Endişe artıyor.
What does the suffix -yor in artıyor indicate?
The suffix -yor marks the present continuous (progressive) tense in Turkish. It shows that the action of increasing is happening right now.
Why is there no explicit subject pronoun before artıyor?
In Turkish, subject pronouns are typically omitted because the verb conjugation already clarifies who is performing the action. In artıyor, the ending implies a third-person singular subject, so an extra pronoun isn’t needed.
How is vowel harmony reflected in the form artıyor?
Turkish vowel harmony adjusts suffix vowels to match the vowels in the word’s root. Since art- contains the back vowel a, the present continuous suffix appears as -ıyor (and not -iyor), maintaining a harmonious sound.
