Why is парке in the prepositional case instead of the nominative парк?
In Russian, to express location with the preposition в (“in”), the noun takes the prepositional case. So парк (nominative) becomes парке to mean “in the park.”
Why is людей in the genitive case rather than the nominative plural люди?
Words of quantity like мало (“few”) require the following noun to be in the genitive case. Therefore “few people” is мало людей, not мало люди.
