Dia can mean he or she. Malay third-person pronouns usually do not show gender, so the sentence itself does not tell you whether the person is male or female.

Why is the verb menipu and not just tipu?
The basic root is tipu, which means to lie, to deceive, or to cheat.
The form menipu is made with the meN- prefix, which is very common for active verbs in Malay. In this case:
