Usages of τυχαίνω

• Ήταν να πάμε για καφέ μετά τη δουλειά, αλλά έτυχε να μείνω περισσότερο στο γραφείο.: We were supposed to go for coffee after work, but it happened that I stayed longer at the office.
• Δεν ξέρω αν είναι να έρθει σήμερα ή αύριο, γιατί τυχαίνει να έχει πολλές συναντήσεις αυτή την εβδομάδα.: I don’t know whether she is supposed to come today or tomorrow, because it happens that she has many meetings this week.
• Αν τύχει να μην έχουμε φρέσκα φρούτα, ανοίγω μια κονσέρβα με ανανά και βάζω μία κουταλιά στο γιαούρτι.: If it happens that we don’t have fresh fruit, I open a can of pineapple and put one spoonful in the yogurt.
• Αν τύχει να χύσω τον χυμό από μανταρίνι στον πάγκο, τον σκουπίζω αμέσως.: If I happen to spill the mandarin juice on the counter, I wipe it up immediately.
• Αν τύχει να πέσει νερό στο τζάμι, φαίνεται αμέσως και το γυαλίζω με ένα καθαρό πανί.: If water happens to fall on the glass, it shows immediately and I polish it with a clean cloth.
• Αν τύχει να πέσει η κουρτίνα, ξέρω ότι φταίει το κουρτινόξυλο και όχι το παντζούρι.: If the curtain happens to fall, I know the curtain rod is the problem and not the shutter.
• Αν τύχει να μην βρούμε τραπέζι έξω, ο ίδιος σερβιτόρος μάς βάζει μέσα κοντά στο παράθυρο.: If it happens that we don’t find a table outside, the same waiter seats us inside near the window.
