Why is it ni and not nii or some other form for we?
Ni is the standard Esperanto subject pronoun meaning we.
Esperanto pronouns are short and fixed:
- mi = I
- vi = you
- li = he
- ŝi = she
- ĝi = it
- ni = we
- ili = they
- oni = one / people in general
Unlike in English, Esperanto pronouns do not change form for subject/object in most basic uses the way English has we/us. Instead, Esperanto usually shows grammatical role with endings, especially -n for the direct object when needed.
