Teksaĵo is a noun built from:
- teks- = the idea of weaving / textile work
- -aĵ- = a concrete thing made from an action or material
- -o = noun ending
So teksaĵo means a woven item, textile, fabric, or cloth-like product. The suffix -aĵ- is very useful in Esperanto for “a thing resulting from” something.
Examples:
- manĝi = to eat → manĝaĵo = food
- konstrui = to build → konstruaĵo = a building
- teksi = to weave → teksaĵo = a woven thing / textile
La is the definite article, meaning the. Esperanto has only one article: la. It does not change for gender, number, or case in normal use.
So la teksaĵo means the textile / the fabric / the woven item.
A learner may wonder whether Esperanto has a/an. It does not. If you want an indefinite idea, you usually just leave out the article:
- teksaĵo = a textile / textile in a general sense
- la teksaĵo = the textile / the specific textile already known from context
