He sits down with the woman.

we don't use 'with' (mit) here in German. It would mean that they both sit down together. Since the woman sits already, the man is sitting down 'to' the woman: zu.

The woman likes him.

Die Frau mag ihn trotzdem.

The woman likes him nonetheless.

der Frau = indirect object and dative

der Frau = direct object and accusative

den Apfel = indirect object and dative

I give the apple to the woman. ^{Ich gebe den Apfel der Frau.}

Emphasis is on the last word of the sentence.

Ich gebe den Apfel der Frau

not to the kid

Ich gebe der Frau den Apfel

not the bread

Er denkt immer wieder an die schöne Frau.

He thinks again and again about the beautiful woman.

Ob die schöne Frau auch wieder da ist.

Is the beautiful woman also there again? ^{He wonders whether...}

Er muß immerzu an die schöne Frau denken.

He can't help thinking all the time about the beautiful woman.

Aber die schöne Frau kommt nicht.

But the beautiful woman doesn't come.
