Did you notice how Kantine and Essen melted into one noun meaning the food of the canteen?

There are declensions, but we will deal with that later. (If you must know...these are the forms for Nominative and Accusative. But you may, for the time being, use the austrich method and pretend you have never seen what is written inside these brackets...)

Did you recognize the Dativ?

Hint: die Arbeit is feminine

zu is a preposition followed by the Dative case.

I work alone.Ich arbeite allein.
I eat alone in the canteen.Ich esse allein in der Kantine.
I go home alone.Ich gehe allein nachhause.
I eat supper alone.Ich esse allein Abendbrot.
I go to bed alone.Ich gehe allein schlafen.
I am always alone.Ich bin immer allein.
