Stating Obvious Reasons with "Puisque"
Use puisque (since) to give a reason that is already known, obvious, or evident to the listener.
| Since you like trinkets, we are going to the flea market. |
| Since this trinket is expensive, I am buying nothing. |
Like the English word "since", puisque can appear at the beginning of a sentence, or it can connect two ideas in the middle.
| Since it is rare, it has value. |
| Negotiate the price, since the condition is bad! |
| Since you are hesitating, we are not buying this trinket. |
Drop the final e and add an apostrophe when puisque is followed by il, elle, ils, elles, or on.
| I am selling this object since it is not in my collection. |
