Present subjunctive of to be and to have (être, avoir)

When setting rules for a flatshare or negotiating with a landlord, you will often express desires, demands, and necessities.

la colocation

In addition to impersonal expressions like il faut que (it is necessary that) and il est important que (it is important that), verbs of desire and demand also trigger the subjunctive. This includes verbs like vouloir que (to want that), exiger que (to demand that), and their conditional forms (je voudrais que, j'aimerais que).
