### Adjectives Ending in -ant

In English, you can turn a verb into a descriptive adjective by adding "-ing" (like turning *to surprise* into *surprising*). French does this by using the present participle, which ends in **-ant**.

Even though these words originate from verbs, they act exactly like regular adjectives. They generally follow the noun they describe, and they must agree with it in gender and number. Simply add an **-e** for feminine nouns and an **-s** for plural nouns.
