### Surviving the Sales

When massive store sales (**les soldes**) hit, the crowds and discounts can bring enormous chaos. Before we talk about the consequences of these crowds, let's look at the madness of shopping season.

### So Much and So Many: *tellement de... que*

In a previous lesson, you learned to use *si* or *tellement* to say something is "so [adjective] that..."

When you want to describe an overwhelming quantity of a **noun** (so *much* or so *many* of a thing), you must add **de** after **tellement**. Place **tellement de** before the noun, and **que** before the consequence.

*(Note: **de** and **que** become **d'** and **qu'** before a vowel or silent h!)*

### Using *tant de... que*

You can also use **tant de** instead of **tellement de**. It works exactly the same way and means the exact same thing: "so much" or "so many".
