Questions & Answers about Löydätkö sinä meidät?
Why is the word for "us" meidät here instead of me or meitä?
meidät is the accusative form of me (we). Personal pronouns get a special -t ending when they are the object of a completed action. Because finding someone is a complete result, we use meidät. If the action was ongoing, like searching for us, you would use the partitive form meitä.
The dictionary form of "to find" is löytää. Why does it have a d here?
This is caused by consonant gradation. When you add the -t ending to say "you find" (löydät), it closes the syllable. This weakens the strong t from löytää into a d.
Why does the question particle at the start use -kö instead of -ko?
Because of vowel harmony. The word löydät contains the front vowels ö and ä. Therefore, any ending added to it must also use a front vowel, making it -kö.
Can I drop the word sinä from this sentence?
Yes! Because the verb löydät already has the -t ending meaning "you" (singular), the pronoun sinä is optional. Including it just makes the question sound a bit more direct or emphasized.
