In Farsi, you can express an estimated amount simply by placing two consecutive numbers right next to each other, like هفت هشت (seven eight). You do not need to use یا (or) between them to express this approximation.

Since "seven or eight" is a plural amount, why is شاخه (stem/branch) in the singular form?

This is a strict rule in Farsi: any noun that directly follows a numeric value or range must always be singular. Even though the quantity is an estimated plural range, شاخه remains singular.

Why is there a ی added to the end of شاخه before پژمرده?

This is the Ezafe connector linking the noun to its adjective. Because شاخه (stem) ends in a silent "h" (ه), you must add the letter ی (pronounced "-ye") to smoothly connect it to the adjective پژمرده (withered).

Why is the verb افتاد (fell) in the singular form when there are multiple stems falling?
