Questions & Answers about اینقدر خستهام که میخوابم.
The lesson title mentions آنقدر ... که (ân-ghadr ... ke), but this sentence uses اینقدر (in-ghadr). Can we use either?
Yes! Literally, آنقدر means "that much" and اینقدر means "this much." When used in the "so [adjective] that..." structure, they are virtually interchangeable. Using اینقدر just adds a slight feeling of immediate closeness, like saying "I'm this tired right now."
Why is the second verb میخوابم (indicative) instead of subjunctive? Doesn't که usually trigger the subjunctive?
While که (that) often links to a subjunctive verb when expressing a wish or obligation (like after "I want that..."), here it introduces a result. Because the result is a definite fact or certainty ("that I am going to sleep"), it stays in the indicative mood. You only use the subjunctive after که if the result is hypothetical, intended, or uncertain.
Why is the present tense میخوابم translated as the future "I will sleep"?
In Farsi, the simple present indicative is very commonly used to express things you are about to do in the immediate or definite future. While Farsi does have a specific future tense, in everyday speech it translates much more naturally to "I'm going to sleep" or "I will sleep" using just the present tense.
As a quick refresher on spelling, why is there an ا (alef) in خستهام?
The adjective خسته (tired) ends in a silent ه (which makes an "eh" sound). When we attach the "I am" personal ending (), we can't just stick it directly onto the silent . Farsi spelling rules require us to use the standalone version of the ending, , to bridge the two vowels, making it (khaste-am).
