Why is ast at the end of the sentence?
In Farsi, the verb almost always comes at the very end. The structure here is simply the subject (in taghyir), followed by the adjective (mohem), and ending with the verb (ast).
Why does the word تغییر (taghyir) have two pairs of dots in the middle?
The word for "change" is spelled with two of the letter ye (ی) in a row. The first one acts as a "y" consonant, and the second creates the long "ee" vowel sound, blending together as "tagh-yeer".
Since we are learning about shâyad (might) and the subjunctive, why does this sentence just use the simple verb ast?
Because this sentence states a definite fact. You only need the subjunctive form of "to be" (bâshad) when expressing possibility or doubt. If you wanted to apply this lesson's grammar to say "This change might be important," it would become shâyad in taghyir mohem bâshad.
Do in (this) or mohem (important) need to change endings to match the noun they describe?
No, Farsi does not have grammatical gender, and adjectives or demonstratives do not change form to match the noun. Both in and mohem look exactly the same whether they describe a single change, multiple changes, or a person.
