Questions & Answers about قهوهات را بنوش.
How exactly is the command بنوش built?
The infinitive verb for 'to drink' is نوشیدن. If we take its present stem, which is نوش, and add the command prefix بـ (be-), we get the singular imperative بنوش (benoosh), meaning 'drink!'.
How does قهوهات mean 'your coffee', and why is there an extra letter inside it?
قهوه means 'coffee'. To say 'your', Farsi attaches the ending ـَت (-at) directly to the noun. However, because قهوه ends in an 'eh' vowel sound, an extra ا (alef) is added in writing as a bridge to connect them smoothly. This makes it قهوهات (ghahve-at).
Why is the word را needed in this sentence?
The word را (ra) is a marker used to show that a direct object is specific. Because the sentence says to drink 'your coffee' rather than just 'coffee' in general, it is a specific object and must have را immediately after it.
Why is the action word placed at the very end of the sentence?
Farsi naturally places the verb at the end of the sentence. Even in a short command like this, the object you are acting upon (قهوهات را, your coffee) comes first, and the action verb (بنوش, drink) finishes the sentence.
