The Quantifier بعضی
To express "some" or a portion of a group in Farsi, use the word بعضی.
| some | بعضیba'zi |
When you want to say "some of" a specific group of items or people, follow بعضی with the preposition از (from/of), and then use a plural noun.
| Some of the customers buy fresh fruit. | بعضی از مشتریها میوهی تازه میخرند.ba'zi az moshtari-hâ mive-ye tâze mikharand. |
| Some of the eggs were small. | بعضی از تخممرغها کوچک بود.ba'zi az tokhm-morgh-hâ kuchak bud. |
| Some of the guests are young. | بعضی از مهمانها جوان هستند.ba'zi az mehmân-hâ javân hastand. |
| Some of the clothes are cheap. | بعضی از لباسها ارزان است.ba'zi az lebâs-hâ arzân ast. |
You can also use بعضی از with pronouns to say things like "some of them". This is especially common when contrasting a portion of something against the whole (همه).
| All of the fruits are fresh, but some of them are expensive. | همهی میوهها تازه است، ولی بعضی از آنها گران است.hame-ye mive-hâ tâze ast, vali ba'zi az ânhâ gerân ast. |
While بعضی از is the most common and natural way to say "some of" in everyday Farsi, you may occasionally see بعضی connected directly to the plural noun using the ezafe instead of از (becoming بعضیِ).
