Many technology and social media actions—like posting photos or updating your profile—use compound verbs. Let's look at how to use them in the present perfect tense.
Conjugating Compound Verbs
A compound verb consists of a non-verbal word and a "light verb" like کردن (to do/make).
| to update | بهروزرسانی کردنbe-ruzresâni kardan |
To form the present perfect, only conjugate the light verb. The non-verbal part stays exactly the same and sits right before it. For example, change کردن into its present perfect form, such as کردهام (I have done).
| I have updated my account. | من حساب خود را بهروزرسانی کردهام.man hesâb-e khod râ be-ruz-resâni karde-am |
| She has posted a new photo on social networks. | او یک عکس جدید در شبکههای اجتماعی پست کرده است.u yek aks-e jadid dar shabake-hâye ejtemâ'i post karde ast. |
| I have blocked that strange friend. | من آن دوست عجیب را مسدود کردهام.man ân doste ajib râ masdud karde-am |
Questions and Negation
When asking a question or making a negative statement, all grammatical changes happen on the light verb. Add the negative prefix نـ directly to the past participle (for example, نکردهام).
| We have not posted anything today. | ما امروز چیزی پست نکردهایم.mâ emrooz chizi post nakarde-im. |
| Have you uploaded the project file? | آیا فایل پروژه را بارگذاری کردهای؟âyâ fâyl porozhe râ bârgozâri karde-i? |
| Have you followed the new actor? | آیا شما بازیگر جدید را دنبال کردهاید؟âyâ shomâ bâzigar jadid râ donbâl kardeid? |
